Army of Lovers is a Swedish dance music group that formed in 1987. They gained popularity in Europe during the 1990s with several hits, most notably "Crucified," which topped the Eurochart for eight consecutive weeks and remains their best-known song internationally. The band's name is inspired by the documentary "Armee der Liebenden oder Revolte der Perversen," which focuses on a German gay rights activist. After releasing five albums, the group disbanded in 1996 when Alexander Bard decided to focus on his new project, Vacuum. However, Army of Lovers reformed in late 2012, featuring Bard, Camilla Henemark, and Jean-Pierre Barda, to participate in the Melodifestivalen 2013 with the song "Rockin' the ride," aiming to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. They did not advance to the final, and shortly after, it was announced that Henemark would be replaced by former member Dominika Peczynski for the remainder of their reunion.
