Art Framer was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player, born on August 21, 1928, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He passed away on October 4, 1999, in New York City. In the mid-1950s, he formed an association with a saxophonist/composer and later co-founded a group with another musician after a brief period with a different ensemble. Farmer performed in a notable group from 1971 until 1977. Later in his career, he exclusively played a custom-designed flumpet, which was built for him to combine the qualities of both trumpet and flugelhorn. He was the twin brother of bassist who died in 1963.
