Art Guy is an artist and producer from California, best known as the drummer for the surf group The New Dimension. After the group disbanded, he faced a pivotal moment in his music career. With encouragement from Hite and Dorinda Morgan, producers for the Beach Boys, and their son Bruce, Art began to explore the art of recording. He collaborated with Danny Belskey on flute and other musicians from the TV show Shindig to develop his instrumental piece "Where You Gonna Go" into a complete song. The B-side, "Teenage Millionaire," written by Dorinda Morgan, was also recorded at Bruce Morgan's renowned Hollywood studio, Stereo Masters. In 1967, this work was released as a promotional 45 on the Valiant label; however, due to a lack of promotion, the song did not gain traction. Faced with this setback, Art decided his talents were better suited for band collaboration and subsequently joined Smokestack Lightnin’.
