Arthur Ponder, a native of Macon, GA, gained recognition when he took over the singing duties for Johnny Jenkins’ Pinetoppers after Otis Redding left to pursue his solo career. Despite the group's regular performances in the local club and frat scenes during the 1960s, recording opportunities for both Jenkins and Ponder were limited. It wasn't until 1969 or 1970 that Ponder's name appeared on a 45 record.
