Takuya Jō, born Masao Kikuchi on November 28, 1935, in Sakhalin, was a Japanese singer, actor, and songwriter known for his contributions to country, minyo rock, and kayōkyoku music. He first performed and recorded under his real name before adopting the name Takuya Jō in 1966. He was a member of The Western Caravan and debuted as a country western singer. Takuya was the younger brother of composer Jun Kitahara and the nephew of lyricist Kōhan Kawauchi. He passed away on May 9, 1989.
