Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban jazz trumpet player and pianist, born on November 6, 1949, in Artemisa, Pinar del Río Province, Cuba. He joined a band in 1967 and later became a member of another band in 1974. In the late 1970s, he had the opportunity to play with the legendary Dizzy Gillespie. In 1981, he founded his own band.
