Arushi Jain, also known as OSE (ओस), is a Brooklyn-based modular synthesist and Indian classical vocalist. Growing up in Delhi, she trained vocally at the Prayag Hindustani Music School and the Ravi Shankar Institute, influenced by Hindustani classical music. Arushi studied Computer Science at Stanford University, where she discovered computer-generated sounds and synthesis at the Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). Her interest in instrument design and sonic experimentation bridges western and eastern musicology. She is the founder of Ghunghrun, a radio series and label based in San Francisco and New Delhi, which creates spaces for sound to exist beyond traditional music. Ghunghrun emphasizes collaboration across various artistic mediums, including sound, moving image, dance, and technology. Arushi's compositions draw inspiration from artists like Terry Riley, Ravi Shankar, Sheila Chandra, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Kara Lis Coverdale. Her debut album, ‘With & Without,’ was released on Ghunghrun in 2019 to critical acclaim. The track “Is it love?” was highlighted by FACT as one of the best tracks of 2019, and her work has been featured in publications such as MixMag, Magnetic Magazine, Bandcamp, XLR8R, Vogue, and Red Bull Music.
