Asva was an American experimental doom/sludge/drone metal band formed in 2003 by Stuart Dahlquist. The band's name is derived from the Sanskrit word aśva, meaning "horse." Asva is known for its frequent line-up changes, with Dahlquist being the leader and the only constant member. A long-time contributor to the band, who appeared both as a live member and studio musician on two albums, is also noted. Other former members include individuals whose names are not specified. In interviews, Dahlquist has described Asva as not being a traditional band due to its varying membership, lack of rehearsals, rare performances, and the fact that band members record separately from each other.
