Ataraxia is an Italian neoclassical band formed in the late 1980s, with their first known audio recording dating back to a live performance in 1988. The band combines modern technology with archaic instrumentation across various media, describing their music as a blend of sacred and profane, ethereal and neo-classical, as well as contemporary and early music. They explore European legends and intertwine Greek and Latin myths in their work, with lyrics written in a variety of ancient and contemporary languages. Ataraxia often performs in locations they believe possess specific spiritual qualities and has released over 20 original LPs since their inception.
