Attila & The Huns was an American rock band formed in 1964 in Thorp, Wisconsin. The group consisted of drummer Rich Legault, bassist Denny Lewan, singer/guitarist Mike Peace, and rhythm guitarist Ben Wiesneiwski. They gained popularity on the local dance and club circuit and released a self-financed 45 RPM single. In 1967, they placed second in a local battle-of-the-bands contest, which caught the attention of businessman/manager/producer LaCour. In 1969, LaCour released one single on his label. LaCour managed to attract interest from Chess Records, financing recording sessions and preparing cover art for a projected album. However, the album was not released at the time by Chess, leading LaCour to buy the license rights. Due to budget constraints, he convinced the band to change their name, resulting in a black-and-white cover with the new name added on top of the old picture. LaCour financed the album on his small Chicago-based Moniquid Records in 1969. The group released another single, a blue-eyed soul track that became a local hit in Wisconsin, followed by a release of 'Proud Mary' b/w (Get Out, Get Out) We Want Peace' in the same year under the Magic Touch catalog number 2078.
