Aube was the solo project of Akifumi Nakajima, born on January 13, 1959, in Kyoto, Japan, and he passed away on September 25, 2013. He began this project in 1991, adopting a minimalist approach in his recordings. Nakajima utilized simple source sounds, which he processed into expansive sonic textures, drawing from organic sounds like gurgling water and technological elements such as the hum of luminous lamps. His work resulted in a blend of controlled manipulation and beautiful accidents. In May 1992, he launched his own cassette label dedicated to releasing experimental music and noise, alongside his own recordings as Aube. Nakajima collaborated with various artists from Japan, Europe, and the United States and designed packaging for numerous other releases.
