Aurra was a disco soul funk group hailing from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 1979 as a spin-off from another group. The original lineup included members who contributed to lead vocals, percussion, guitar, keyboards, flute, sax, and bass. Aurra, much like Slave, functioned more as an extended family than a traditional group, with members collaborating freely despite the boundaries typically imposed by record contracts and personal egos. The group later changed its name when they signed to a record label.
