Austin Peralta (October 25, 1990 – November 21, 2012) was a prominent American jazz pianist, composer, improviser, and bandleader from Los Angeles. He began taking classical piano lessons at the age of six and developed a passion for jazz after being introduced to it by a friend. Peralta studied music in Malibu, California, and later received lessons from an iconic jazz pianist and saxophonist. At the age of thirteen, he won the Shelly Manne Memorial New Talent Award from the L.A. Jazz Society. In the mid-2000s, Peralta regularly performed with various jazz musicians and ensembles in Greater Los Angeles, including at notable venues such as The Baked Potato. He formed The Hour Trio, which released their debut album "Inta' Out" in March 2005. Peralta made his international debut at the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2006, performing with his Hour Trio and sharing the stage with renowned artists. That same year, he was signed by a Japanese label and released his solo debut album, featuring jazz standards and one original composition. He recorded his second album in late 2006, which included four original tracks. After graduating with honors in 2009, Peralta accepted a scholarship at a prestigious institution but dropped out after a year to pursue his music career in Southern California.
