Average White Band is a Scottish R'n'B and Soul group known for their distinctive sound. The original members include Alan Gorrie, born on July 19, 1946, in Perth, Scotland, who played bass and provided vocals. Mike Rosen, who played trumpet and guitar, was replaced by Hamish Stuart, born on October 8, 1949, in Glasgow, Scotland, who took on guitar and vocals. Other founding members include Owen 'Onnie' McIntyre, born on September 25, 1945, in Lennoxtown, Scotland, on guitar; Malcolm 'Mollie' Duncan, born on August 24, 1945, in Montrose, Scotland, on saxophone; Roger Ball, born on June 4, 1944, in Broughty Ferry, Scotland, on saxophone and keyboards; and Robbie McIntosh, born on May 6, 1950, in Dundee, Scotland, who played drums until his passing on September 23, 1974, in Hollywood, U.S.A.
