Aviador Dro, originally known as "El Aviador Dro y Sus Obreros Especializados," was formed in 1979 in Madrid, Spain, by a group of friends led by Servando Carballar. They were inspired by science, technology, futurism, films, board games, and music from influential bands such as Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Devo, Kraftwerk, and the Sex Pistols. As pioneers of synth-pop in Spain, they coined the term "tecno-pop" to describe their music in interviews. The band experienced a creative peak between 1980 and 1985, during which they founded an independent label, DRO, to release their provocative anthem "Nuclear, Sí" ("Nuclear, Yes"). Over the years, Aviador Dro has had various line-ups, with Biovac-N as the only remaining original member since 2012. The current lineup includes Biovac N (Servando Carballar), ArcoIris (Marta Cervera), ATAT (Ismael Contreras), CTA 102 (Alejandro Sacristán), and Genocider/Genocyber F15 (Mario Gil).
