Azul Y Negro is a Spanish techno-pop duo founded in 1981 by Carlos García Vaso and Joaquín Montoya. Carlos García-Vaso, who plays guitar, previously founded the band "Cáñamo" in 1976 with Manolo Tena and Antonio Molina, recording one album titled "Valle del Pas" in 1978 before establishing "Greta," a pop rock band. Joaquín Montoya, born in 1950 in Cartagena, is a classically trained pianist and keyboard player. In 1993, José Antonio Álvarez replaced Montoya for the duo's last album, but he rejoined in 2002. Since 2013, the members have been Carlos García Vaso and Carlos López. In 2020, after Carlos G. Vaso suffered a serious Covid infection, the original members decided to reunite, leading Montoya to rejoin the group.
