Azwon is a US band formed in the late 1970s by student friends at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The band consisted of Reggie Jahn (keyboards/synthesizer and vocals), Jamie Baker (bass), John Finn (guitar and vocals), Dave Antonacci (drums), Matt Pugliesi (percussion), Penny Lang (lead vocals), and Steve Gambrell (piano and vocals). They frequently performed on campus at the Student Union, "The Downunder," and "Landis Green," as well as off-campus at a local venue called "Tommy’s Night Club." In late 1979 and again in the early 1980s, Azwon recorded several tracks at Sweet Bay recording studios in Tallahassee, most of which remain unreleased. The band decided to release two tracks under their own private label, named after the first letters of three original members' surnames: Reggie Jahn, Jamie Baker, and John Finn. They pressed only 200 units of a 7” record, with the majority distributed at gigs and to friends. The flute solo on their song "Paradise Island" was performed by Tommy Schmick, the owner of Tommy’s. A new version of "Paradise Island" features Yesenia Ruiz (vocals), along with additional drums and percussion by unnamed musicians.
