DJ Babu, born Chris Oroc on September 17, 1974, in Washington, D.C., is a Filipino-American DJ known for his contributions to hip hop. He is one-third of a prominent hip hop group and a member of a well-known DJ crew. Alongside rapper Defari, he forms the duo that has gained recognition in the music scene. After living in Oxnard, California for a year, he later moved to Camarillo. Babu has earned multiple titles in DJ competitions, including the Vestax World Championships and several ITF titles. As a respected battle DJ, he has appeared in and hosted numerous videos. Under the name "DJ Babu," he produced the influential battle record "Super Duck Breaks" in 1996, which sold over 10,000 copies. He has collaborated with various acts, featuring alongside groups and artists in the hip hop genre. Additionally, Babu is credited with coining the term "TURNTABLIST."
