Baby Grandmothers were a short-lived yet prolific Swedish band that emerged from the Scandinavian psychedelic underground scene in 1967. Formed in Stockholm, they evolved from the R&B/beat band T-Boones, known for their collectible single "At the club/King of the Orient." With guitarist Kenny Håkansson joining in 1965, the trio drifted into psychedelic sounds and released the single “I Want You” in August 1967, which is considered the first hard-rock recording in Sweden. The band was named Baby Grandmothers by the co-founder of the psychedelic club Filips, where they served as the house band. Filips was a notable venue for bands like Hansson & Karlsson and hosted jam sessions with artists such as Jimi Hendrix and the Mothers of Invention. Baby Grandmothers supported Jimi Hendrix during his Swedish tour in 1968 before transforming into Mecki Mark Men, becoming the first Swedish rock band to tour the US. Kenny Håkansson later formed the influential band Kebnekajse, known for their electric folk psych sound.
