Baby Huey, born James Ramey on August 17, 1944, in Richmond, Indiana, was an American rock and soul singer known for his powerful voice. He recorded four songs with The Babysitters: "Monkey Man," "Beg Me," "Messin' with the Kid," and "Just Being Careful," which were released on various labels including Shann, USA, and Satellite. His only album was released posthumously in 1971, featuring the tracks "Listen to Me" and "Hard Times." An unofficial EP titled The Early Years, compiled by Johnny Ross, included the four songs from the mid-1960s. In 2008, a Facebook entry indicated that a bootleg of live recordings by Baby Huey & the Babysitters was being sold in Europe. In 2019, an expanded 2LP version of The Living Legend was released, including unreleased instrumental tracks. Another album, Another Story: The Lost Recordings, credited to Baby Huey, has two release dates, 2017 and 2021, and is available for download on muxiv.net. While it features a mix of vocal and instrumental tracks purported to be by Ramey, it is noted that the vocals do not belong to him. Baby Huey passed away on October 28, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 26.
