Bachdenkel was an English rock band formed in 1968, initially under a different name. The band consisted of three members: Colin Swinburne, who led the group with vocals, guitars, and keyboards; Peter Kimberley on bass, piano, and vocals; and Brian Smith on drums. Karel Beer contributed as an additional musician, engineer, and producer. The band relocated to France to live, perform, and record. During their decade-long existence, Bachdenkel recorded two albums. Their first album, "Lemmings," was recorded in 1970 but not released until 1973. The second album, "Stalingrad," was recorded and released in 1977. Throughout this period, Bachdenkel toured small venues across Europe, primarily in France. Originally starting as a Flower Power psychedelic rock band influenced by artists like Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, The Beatles, and Procol Harum, Bachdenkel evolved into a more symphonic and melodic progressive rock style for their second album. Their sound featured prominent guitar and drums, complemented by strong vocals and occasional keyboard passages.
