Bachelors Anonymous was a synth-pop band formed in Pasadena, California, active from 1984 to 1992. The band was created by Robert Berg and David Hughes, who met at a Catholic choir in Pasadena. They took their name from Harry Hay’s 1948 prospectus for the International Bachelors’ Fraternal Order for Peace & Social Dignity. Their debut performance took place on January 24, 1985, and they were known for their candid songs and theatrical presentation. In addition to performing and recording, Bachelors Anonymous created scores for theater and dance. The band featured various members over the years, including Bonnie Cirino, Carrah (Macy) Wright, Zack, Nancy Taylor, Tom Kidd, Lee Demko, Anne (Atwell-Zoll) Merino, and Ann Russell, each contributing vocals, instruments, and performances at different times. They were particularly recognized for their use of synths and drum boxes, which defined their sound during their active years.
