Bantu, also known as Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity, is a 13-piece award-winning collective led by Ade Bantu, based in Lagos. Their music embodies the sound of the city, fusing Afrobeat, Afrofunk, Highlife, and Yoruba music. Bantu's lyrics tackle social issues such as corruption, injustice, migration, xenophobia, and urban alienation, reflecting the complexities of life in Lagos. The band has played a significant role in revitalizing Nigeria's live music scene through their monthly concert series and music festival, Afropolitan Vibes, which they have hosted since 2013 and has featured over 190 top Nigerian and international acts. The Village Voice recognized it as “one of the world's best music events of the moment.” Bantu has collaborated with notable artists, including Seun Kuti, Patrice, Nneka, Xavier Naidoo, Tony Allen, Orlando Julius, UB40, and Gentleman. Their latest album, “Everybody Get Agenda,” was released in 2020.
