Bappi Lahiri was an Indian musician, composer, and playback singer, born on November 27, 1952, in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. He passed away on February 15, 2022, in Mumbai, India. The son of a famous Bengali singer and a musician well-versed in classical music, Bappi was trained in every aspect of music from a young age, beginning to play the tabla at the age of three. He started his career as a music director for a Bengali film at 19 and is credited with popularizing synthesized disco music in Indian cinema. Known as the "Disco King," he was a pioneer of disco beats in India and became the most popular music director in Bollywood during the 1980s. Bappi Lahiri is recognized for his collaborations with various renowned singers and for providing opportunities to newcomers in the Hindi film industry.
