Barbara Acklin was an American singer and songwriter born on February 28, 1943, in Oakland, California, or possibly on February 28, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away on November 27, 1998, in Omaha, Nebraska, due to pneumonia. Acklin was a backup vocalist at records in the mid-1960s and collaborated extensively with notable artists. Her first hit was "Show Me The Way To Go," a 1966 duet, and her biggest hit is "Love Makes A Woman" from 1968. She is also well-known for "Am I The Same Girl," which became huge hits for other artists later on.
