Barbara and The Uniques was a soul group from Chicago formed after the demise of another act. The group consisted of Barbara, her sister Gwen, and their friend Doris Lindsay. They released several singles but did not achieve commercial success. Eventually, Gwen and Doris left the group, and Barbara, adopting the name Barbara Blake, attempted to relaunch her career with three male session vocalists. Despite her efforts, the group faced a lack of success and disbanded in the mid-70s.
