Barbara Randolph was born on May 5, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away on July 12, 2002, in South Africa. She was a talented singer and actress who became a member of The Platters in 1964. During the mid to late 1960s, Barbara recorded for various labels and was briefly considered as a replacement for Florence Ballard of The Supremes in 1967, although Diana Ross opposed the idea. She released a solo single of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "I Got a Feeling" in 1968 and recorded her own version of Marvin Gaye's "Can I Get a Witness." After leaving Motown in the early 1970s, she worked with other labels and made a mini-comeback in England years later. Additionally, she briefly toured with Marvin Gaye when his regular partner, Tammi Terrell, fell ill. Barbara was married but further details about her marriage are not provided.
