Barbara St. Clair, known as “Buffalo's Queen of Soul,” was born on October 17, 1941, and passed away on September 4, 2013. She began her musical career in the 1960s as a member of the R&B vocal group the Sessions. Later, she formed her own band, Barbara St. Clair & the Pin-Kooshins. During the 1980s, St. Clair stepped away from the music industry to focus on her education, which she had previously set aside for her performing career. She made a comeback in the early 1990s, leading the band the Shadows, with whom she performed until her passing. In recognition of her contributions to music, she was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 1991.
