Barbara Stant, originally known as Barbara Holmes, began her career at Shiptown Records in Norfolk, Virginia. She started as one of the Idets, the label's version of Motown's Adantes, contributing her talents to various recording sessions for different artists. Recognizing her potential, Noah Biggs, the mogul of Shiptown, decided it was time to showcase Barbara as a featured artist in her own right.
