Barkmarket was a defunct noise rock and industrial rhythm and blues band formed in 1987. They released their 4-track self-titled cassette that same year. After signing to a label, they worked with a rotating cast of musicians for their debut LP, released in 1988. Bass duties were entrusted to a member whose name is not specified. The recording of their follow-up LP in 1989 required four different drummers, with one eventually settling in to complete the trio. Barkmarket went on to release several more albums, including their LPs in 1991, 1993, and 1996, as well as EPs in 1994 and 1995. The band quietly disbanded in 1998 due to commitments from one member to studio engineering and production work for other bands. Their final show took place on June 7, 1998, at Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp, Belgium.
