Barry Ryan was an English pop singer, songwriter, and photographer, born on 24th October 1948 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He passed away on 28th September 2021. Ryan was married to Christine Davison and was a father to two children, Jack Davison and Sophia Davison. Ryan began his career in music at the age of fifteen, performing alongside his twin brother. In 1965, they signed a recording contract with Decca as a duo, releasing singles such as "Don't Bring Me Your Heartaches," "Have Pity on the Boy," and "Missy Missy." As pressures mounted, the brothers decided to split their roles, with Paul writing songs for Barry to perform as a solo artist. Their most notable success came with the song "Eloise" in 1968, which was melodramatic and heavily orchestrated. Other singles included "Love Is Love," "The Hunt," "Magical Spiel," and "Kitsch." Although "Love Is Love" did not achieve great success in the UK, it sold a million copies across Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. Ryan gained significant popularity in Germany, where he recorded several songs in German. He ceased performing in the early 1970s due to rumors of a recording studio accident that left him with serious facial burns.
