Basic Black is an Atlanta-based R&B group that was introduced to Motown by Gene Griffin, who is Teddy Riley's uncle and the former manager of the group Guy. The original lineup featured Daryl "Dezo" Adams as the lead singer, along with Walter Scott, Lloyd Turner, and Kelvin Bradshaw. In 2019, the group regrouped with a new lineup consisting of Spec Turner, Kelvin Bradshaw, Anthony Dupree, and Sean Black Jones.
