Basic Channel is a German techno production duo and record label, formed in Berlin in 1993 by Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. The duo gained prominence in the mid-1990s for a series of vinyl-only releases under various aliases, characterized by minimalism in both production techniques and graphic aesthetics. Basic Channel is widely regarded as a pioneering force in minimal and dub techno. The minimalist aesthetics of their 12" releases can create ambiguities regarding whether the names listed are aliases or simply track titles, leading to inconsistent credits on compilations and DJ mixes.
