Be Bop Deluxe was a British band formed in 1972 in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. Known for their musical restlessness, they explored genres ranging from prog rock to proto-punk and new wave, despite never playing Be-Bop music. The band gained recognition for their singles "Ships In The Night," "Sister Seagull," and "Maid In Heaven." They recorded their final album in 1978. Bill Nelson's follow-up solo project, "Red Noise," was intended to be the sixth Be Bop Deluxe album, but the band disbanded due to Charles' visa expiring, opting not to replace him.
