Bebel Gilberto is an American-born Brazilian popular singer, born on May 12, 1966, in New York City. She is the daughter of noted musicians and grew up in an artistic environment. Bebel began her singing career at an early age, providing backing vocals on children's albums. In the 1980s, she made several attempts as a solo artist in Brazil, collaborating with various pop and rock artists, and released an EP through Warner featuring hits like "Mais Feliz" and "Eu Preciso Dizer Que Te Amo." In 1991, she moved back to New York City and has since alternated between the US and UK, working with notable artists and DJs while blending bossa nova into innovative musical concepts. Her first solo album, "Tanto Tempo," was released in 2000 and produced by the Yugoslavian-born Brazilian producer, who passed away shortly before the album's release. There is a common misconception that Bebel is the daughter of Astrud Gilberto; however, Astrud was briefly married to Bebel's father from 1959 to 1964, before Bebel was born, which is why they share the same surname.
