Belly is a hard-edged US pop band founded in 1991 by former member Tanya Donelly, who had a brief stint with another group. The band was formed alongside fellow ex-Muse Fred Abong and brothers Chris and Tom Gorman. They quickly gained strong initial success in the UK and US indie/alternative scenes and were twice nominated for Grammy Awards in the early 1990s. During the recording of their debut album, "Star," Abong left the band and was replaced by Gail Greenwood on bass. The subsequent tour helped boost their popularity; however, their second album, "King," which was anticipated to build on the success of "Star," did not receive the same acclaim. Donelly disbanded Belly in 1996, after which she released her first solo material later that year. In February 2016, the band announced their reunion for live shows and plans to record new material. They launched a PledgeMusic campaign and released their third album, "Dove," on May 3, 2018.
