Bernard Parmegiani (27 October 1927 – 22 November 2013) was a renowned French composer celebrated for his electronic and acousmatic music. Born in Paris, he initially worked as a sound engineer for French television (ORTF, later known as RTF) and studied acting at the Lecoq & Decroux school. In 1959, he joined the "Groupe de recherches musicales" (GRM) for a two-year master class, where he composed his first major work, "Violostries," in 1962 for a choreography performed at the Théâtre Contemporain d’Amiens. Under the guidance of Pierre Schaeffer, he led the Musique-Image department at ORTF, creating music for various film directors, including R. Lapoujade, P. Foldès, P. Kamler, V. Borowczyck, P. Kast, J. Baratier, and P. Kassovitz. After a trip to the U.S.A., he expanded his musical explorations into video art, directing three musical videos: "L’Œil écoute" (1973), "Jeux d’artifices" (1979), and "L’Écran transparent" (1973).
