Bernard Parmegiani (27 October 1927 – 22 November 2013) was a renowned composer from Paris, France, celebrated for his contributions to electronic and acousmatic music. He began his career as a sound engineer for French television (ORTF, later RTF) after studying acting at the Lecoq & Decroux school. In 1959, he joined the "Groupe de recherches musicales" (GRM) for a two-year master class, where he composed his first major work, "Violostries," in 1962 for a choreography at the Théâtre Contemporain d’Amiens directed by Jacques-Albert Cartier. Parmegiani was appointed by Pierre Schaeffer to lead the Musique-Image department at ORTF, during which he collaborated with various film directors, including R. Lapoujade, P. Foldès, P. Kamler, V. Borowczyck, P. Kast, J. Baratier, and P. Kassovitz. His musical explorations also extended to video art, resulting in three musical videos: "L’Œil écoute" (1973), "Jeux d’artifices" (1979), and "L’Écran transparent" (1973), the latter created during his residency at West Deutscher Rundfunk (WDR) in Köln, Germany.
