Bernard Szajner is a French electronic and visual artist, born on June 27, 1944, in Grenoble, France. He gained recognition as a lighting and visual effects designer for various artists. In the 1970s, Szajner transitioned from conventional lighting technology to pioneering the creative and commercial use of lasers. He invented a unique laser harp, known as the 'Syeringe,' which innovatively reversed the traditional approach of light being triggered by music, instead allowing music to be triggered by light. This invention enabled him to control sound in ways that conventional synthesizers could not, providing a wider octave range. However, around the mid-1980s, Szajner stepped away from music for two decades, leading to a relative obscurity of his work. Despite this, he remains a respected figure among connoisseurs of his genre.
