Bernard E. “Bernie” Waldon (1935-2012) was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to Floyd and Agnes Waldon. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and relocated to Indianapolis in 1965. Bernie had a career in radio, working at stations such as WILO, WHOW, WIRE in Indianapolis, and WZIP in Cincinnati. He was also a musician, collaborating with various Country and Bluegrass groups, notably the Indiana Band and Bluegrass Partners. His talents led him to appear on radio and television, including guest spots on the Grand Ole Opry and Renfro Valley Barn Dance. In 1977, Bernie retired from Emery Worldwide after previously working for Purolator Courier. He was a private pilot and served as the past president of the Indiana chapter of the Antique Airplane Association, holding a national lifetime membership. Additionally, he was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Associations, the Experimental Airplane Association, and the Luscombe Association. Bernie also served eight years in the Indiana National Guard. He passed away on June 27, 2012, in Brooksville, Florida.
