Bert Kaempfert was a German producer, arranger, conductor, band-leader, and composer, born on October 16, 1923, in Hamburg, Germany. He passed away on June 21, 1980, in Mallorca, Spain. Known by his nickname "Fips," Kaempfert wrote approximately 400 titles and created around 700 arrangements, with more than 150 million records sold by the time of his death. He won a Golden Globe Award for his composition "Strangers In The Night" and is also renowned for "A Swingin' Safari" and "Moon Over Naples." Many stars achieved success with Kaempfert’s compositions. In 1961, he hired a group to back a project for an album, which led to the Beatles' first commercially released recordings.
