Bertha Louise Tillman, born on June 28, 1942, in Texas, was an American singer who gained recognition in the early 1960s. She released her first record, "Oh My Angel," on Bob Shad's Brent label, which featured background vocals from Hank Blackman and J.J. Jackson and The Jackals. The song, written by June Jackson, received significant airplay, particularly in Seattle, where it reached #4 on the KAYO survey by the end of April 1962. Although it entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #95 on May 5 and peaked at #61 on June 9, it did not chart on the Billboard R&B charts and saw limited airplay in the East. Tillman released a second record, "I Wish," credited to Bertha Tillman & The Killers, before returning to her life as a shop assistant in San Diego. She passed away on May 31, 1993, at the age of 50.
