Bertolt Brecht was a German dramatist and lyricist, renowned for his contributions to "epic theatre" or "dialectic theatre." He was born on February 10, 1898, in Augsburg, Germany, and passed away on August 14, 1956, in Berlin, Germany. Brecht was married to the Viennese opera singer Marianne Zoff in 1922, with whom he had a daughter born in 1923, who lived until 2009. The couple divorced in 1927. During his marriage to Zoff, Brecht had a romantic affair with Helene Weigel, whom he eventually married on April 10, 1929. Together, they had two children, born in 1924 and 1930, who lived until 2009 and 2015, respectively. Brecht was also the father-in-law of Barbara Berg's husband and a grandfather.
