**Beshara Bio** Beshara, formed in 1976 in Moseley, Birmingham, was founded by the late Elias Pharoah (Bass) and the late Ray Watts (Rhythm Guitar). The initial lineup included Errol Nanton (Lead Vocals), Dixie Pinnock (Drums), and Michael Nanton (Keyboards). Originally named "Cool Dimension" and "The Kushites," the band adopted the name Beshara in 1979, which means ‘surprise’ in Arabic and ‘mystical’ in Swahili. By 1980, the core members included Ray Watts (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Dixie Pinnock (Drums-Backing Vocals), Michael Nanton (Keyboards-Backing Vocals), and Tony Garfield (Vocals - Bass). They became known for their harmonies and social commentary through lovers rock and cultural reggae, showcasing Ray Watts’ powerful voice, Tony Garfield’s bass lines, Michael Nanton’s distinctive keyboard style, and Dixie Pinnock’s dynamic rhythm. Beshara performed extensively across the UK, gaining a multicultural audience and achieving success with singles like "Men Cry Too," which reached number 6 in the reggae charts, and "Shadow Of Love," which peaked at number 11.
