Between is an international fusion band based in Munich, Germany, formed in 1970 originally as "Between All Chairs (B.A.C.H.)." The band features avant-garde tendencies, blending medieval, ancient, and futuristic music. The founding members, two students of composition in Munich, were part of the artist scene in Munich-Haidhausen and often jammed with various multinational artists at the local club "Song Parnass." In 1967, they met two musicians from different fields, and after collaborating in this creative atmosphere, they decided to form the band in 1970, aiming to express their music beyond the rigid categories of the time. Between recorded their first album in 1971, and by their second album in 1973, they incorporated Indian influences into their sound. Their subsequent albums showcased their ambition to introduce new influences, leading to performances such as a Pop symphony and a score for poems. The band recorded their last album in 1980 before disbanding.
