Bheki Mseleku was a renowned multi-instrumentalist born on March 3, 1955, in Natal, South Africa. He passed away on September 9, 2008, in England. Mseleku was skilled in piano, saxophone, guitar, and vocals, and he was also a talented composer. Although proper recognition of his talents came later in his career, since 1991, he had been in the limelight, touring internationally and releasing several albums with major record labels, as well as featuring on significant releases from other artists. He arrived on the Johannesburg music scene in 1975 as an electric organ player for an R&B group and evolved into one of the world's finest musicians. In the late 1970s, Mseleku left South Africa, escaping the oppressive apartheid system, and settled in London. After extensive touring across Europe and the U.K., he made his debut performance at Ronnie Scott's in London in 1987, collaborating with prominent figures from London's Jazz revival scene. This led to the release of his star-studded debut album "Celebration" in 1991, which featured several notable artists. The album received critical acclaim, supported by a heavy touring schedule, and earned him a nomination for the British Mercury Music Prize for Album of the Year.
