Big Chenier was a blues guitarist and fiddle player born in 1929 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He later moved to Lake Charles, where he became known for his musical talents. In the 1950s, he toured as a solo artist and also backed up his nephew. Chenier recorded several blues tracks, including "Let Me Hold Your Hand" and "Please Try to Realize." In addition to his music career, he owned a restaurant called Chenier Barbecue and Smoke House in Lake Charles. He passed away in 1978.
