Bill Fay (9 September 1943 – 21 February 2025) was a UK-based singer, songwriter, and pianist. He began writing music in the early 1960s while studying at university and recorded a demo in 1966 using a mobile studio. Impressed by the demo, ex-Them drummer Terry Noon helped Fay secure a recording contract. Between 1967 and 1971, the label released a single and two albums: his lush, orchestrated debut album and a rawer follow-up. Unfortunately, these recordings did not achieve commercial success, leading to the termination of his contract shortly after the release of the second album. Fay returned to the studio in the late 1970s to record a third album, which was eventually released in January 2005 under the title "Still Some Light." In 2004, a collection of demos recorded between 1966 and 1970, plus one from 2000, was also released. After not releasing any newly recorded material for over four decades, he recorded an album at home in 2009, which was first released in 2010. He followed this with a new album of original material in 2012 and another in 2015. Fay's music garnered a dedicated fan base, including notable figures from the music industry.
