Bill Mason, born in July 1948 in Columbus, Ohio, is a talented jazz-funk musician and the son of a Baptist minister. He began his musical journey in church, initially learning the piano before switching to the organ in his late teens. Mason gained recognition when he recorded with the Bryant group at Prestige in 1971, which caught the attention of Bob Porter. As a formidable leader, he showcased his skills in his solo album "Gettin' Off," where his extraordinary soulful Hammond organ playing creates deep, relentless grooves that captivate listeners.
