Bill Phillips was an American country and western singer, songwriter, and musician, born on January 28, 1936, in Canton, North Carolina. He passed away on August 23, 2010, in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Phillips achieved notable success on the U.S. country charts, with seventeen charted songs between 1964 and 1979, including four top 10 singles. In 1966, he reached the top 10 twice with "Put It Off Until Tomorrow," which peaked at #6, and "The Company You Keep," which reached #8. Both of these songs were co-written by Dolly Parton and Bill Owens.
